Team Flora
Flora has brought together a team of media personalities who will join the thousands of women taking part in the Flora Womens Mini Marathon on Bank Holiday
The energetic members of Team Flora are Maura Derrane and Sheana Keane, presenters on RTEs Afternoon Show; Aisling OLoughlin, presenter on TV3s Xpos; Ruth Scott, 2FM DJ, and journalist Niamh Horan.
The girls are leading by example and encouraging women from all over the country to get involved in this fantastic event. Each member is keeping a diary of her training and race preparation which will be posted on the Flora Womens Mini Marathon website (www.florawomensminimarathon.ie) and will provide great inspiration to all those who are getting ready for this extraordinary event on 7 June.
Team Flora are each working with Floras nutritionist and are also receiving training advice to have them in tip-top shape for 7 June but regardless of whether they run, jog or walk on the day they know that the little changes they make to their lifestyles in the run up to the event will have a hugely positive impact on their heart health.
Charities are the biggest winners of the Flora Womens Mini Marathon with over 14m raised at last years event alone. The opportunity to raise money for charity was a major motivator for the Team Flora members, especially as Flora offered to get them started with a donation of 1,000 to each of their favourite charities.
RTE presenter, Maura Derrane said:
When Flora asked me to become involved in the event this year, I was thrilled. Id thought about doing the Flora Womens Mini Marathon before but hadnt got around to it. I saw it as a challenge that I couldnt resist. Its a great excuse to get in shape while raising much needed funds for charity!
2FMs Ruth Scott is delighted to be part of Team Flora this year:
Im thrilled to be getting involved again this year! Ive definitely seen the positive results from the training and healthier lifestyle over the last few years. I did the Flora Heart Age Tool recently and was chuffed to see that my heart has seen the benefits too! Id encourage all women to get involvedyou wont regret it!
Niamh Lennon, Brand Manager, Flora said:
Team Flora will be a great inspiration to women everywhere and were delighted to support their fundraising efforts. This is such a fantastic event; each year participants raise millions for charity, have a great day out and on top of all of that, they get to improve their heart health! Wed encourage everyone taking part to discover their Heart Age at www.floraheartage.com; its sure to provide even further motivation in the run up to the big day.
This year Flora has also set up the Flora Heart Heroes social network to celebrate the wonderful efforts of the thousands of women who participate in the event each year. The initiative will enable women to share their individual stories with fellow participants and to also nominate an overall Flora Womens Mini Marathon Heart Hero. Participants can find out more at www.floraheartheroes.com.
